In an ongoing evolution to recast the Treasure Island (TI) Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, the resort's most famous icon, the pirate show, was retooled as the "Sirens of TI," a clash between a group of beautiful, tempting sirens and a band of renegade pirates. It was the first of many changes that the hotel has undergone to retool its image.
The recently remodeled, AAA Four Diamond accommodations feature over 2,800 guest rooms, 220 suites, 18 Luxury and Premier Suites and two lavish, two-bedroom Penthouse Suites with floor-to-ceiling glass windows offering spectacular views of the mountains, pool or Sirens' Cove.
Other changes included the addition of a high-energy pool featuring new cabanas, the Party Tub (an oversize hot tub that accommodates up to 50 people) and exotic cocktails; the hip Mist lounge. New on the dining scene are Chef Richard Sandoval's Isla Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar, which infuses traditional Mexican cuisine with a modern twist (not to be missed are the roving guacamole cart and well-stocked tequila bar); the refined Adam Tihany-designed Dishes Buffet with six live-action stations; and Canter's Deli, the legendary Jewish delicatessen from LA.
Other dining and drinking options include the authentic Italian cuisine and celebrity artwork by Tony Curtis and Phyllis Diller in Francesco's; steaks and seafood in the rustic Steak House; the tropical themed restaurant and bar, Kahunaville; and the Breeze Bar, a sophisticated lounge in the heart of the casino.
In the theme of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," Cirque du Soleil's 10-year-old " Mystère" -- featuring an international cast of dancers, singers, musicians, acrobats and clowns -- -was the company's first permanent production in Las Vegas.
Of course, there's 90,000 square feet of gaming with blackjack, craps, mini-baccarat, slot and video poker machines, poker room and a race and sports book.
Other hotel amenities include wedding packages on the Siren ship or in a secluded area by the pool; the spacious Salon & Spa with an exercise room, sauna, steam bath, whirlpool and massages, manicures and facials; and 18,000-square-feet of meeting and convention space on the resort's second floor. The Shopping Promenade offers the Sirens Apparel and Lingerie boutique, the Mystère Store and TI Kids for great clothes and toys.
